How Your Diet And Acne Condition Are Related

What you are is what you eat! Whether this statement holds good in the case of acne has been a topic which has been under rigorous research. Some people believe that certain foods cause acne while others think vice versa. But, it is very much possible that acne may be the result of food allergies in some cases.

In such cases, the prevalent notion is that skin acts as an elimination organ. When you eat a food that you are allergic to, a toxic reaction occurs which leads the immune system of your body to set up defenses against it. Thereafter, the body starts expelling out the toxins from the food leading to inflammation on the skin in the form of papules and pustules.

According to a research published in December 2002 issues of Archives of Dermatology, certain high-glycemic foods cause acne. These food stuffs lead to high production of insulin in the body, which raises the male hormones. As an effect of rising hormones, there is excess production of sebum in the body which ultimately leads to clogging of pores thereby causing acne. Foods such as grains, milk, processed food, bread, french fries and potato chips are the main culprits in this case.

The experts suggest a switch over to a lower-glycemic diet. A lower-glycemic diet would contain the following:

1. Cereals that contain bran, barley and oats
2. A lot of fresh vegetables and fruits
3. Lots of water, herbal teas and vegetable juices

And a lower-glycemic diet would not contain the following:

1. Walnuts, almonds, Brazil nuts, and filberts
2. Large amount of dairy products and milk
3. Sodas and other aerated drinks
4. Potatoes

Vitamin B5 is considered to be a very important part of a nutrient rich diet. It is commonly found in foods such as pork, beef, chicken, eggs, saltwater fish, potatoes, wheat and fresh vegetables. The variety of foods is large, but the problem is that 50 % of the vitamin is lost during milling of grains and sadly, the average American diet lacks in fresh vegetables. Diet may not be the particular cause of acne and rosacea but can obviously help in the prevention and elimination of the same. Hot and damp foods such as sugary cakes, cookies, sweets, alcohol, chocolate, fried and greasy food, dairy products, peanuts, coconut products, fats and oils, generally trigger acne.

The link may not be direct but it is always advisable to stop the intake of these believed-to-be acne causing foods. A healthy and well-balanced diet keeps your body healthy and the health inside radiates outside on your skin.

Why Drinking Enough Water Can Help Keep Acne Away

You probably don’t know this yet but product wastes and toxic build up in your system is one of the main reasons why you have acne or why your skin breaks out.

You see, your body has 4 channels of elimination…your bowels, kidneys, lungs, and your skin. Your bowels and kidneys are the primary channels that your body expels product wastes and toxics through.

The only time that your body expels product wastes through your lungs and skin is when your bowels and kidneys are overloaded with product wastes and toxics.

This can happen when you’re not drinking enough water.
You see, water is the main carrier of nutrients throughout your body and is quite possibly the single most important contributor to healing and preventing acne flare-ups.

Drinking enough water will dissolve waste products in your system so it can be easily remove and flush out. Without enough water, there won’t be much to dissolve these product wastes and toxics…causing it to build up in your system and causing your body to expel these product wastes and toxics through your lungs and skin.

And this can and will result in acne breakout.

How much water should you be drinking each day to dissolve product waste and flush out toxins from your body?

Although some would say you drink at least 8 glasses of water a day and some would say 3 liters a day or half of your bodyweight in ounces a day.

I say, you should drink only enough to see that your urine is mostly clear, which is probably much more than what you’re drinking now.

But I wouldn’t recommend you going overboard because drinking too much water will also flush out electrolyte minerals out of your system (which is not good).

So how do you know how much water you should be drinking each day?

Test!

Start by drinking 7 glasses of water a day for the next 2 to 3 days. If you see that your urine is clear then 7 glasses of water a day is what you should be drinking.

But remember, you don’t want to go overboard so you may want to try drinking 6 glasses of water a day. If you see that your urine is kind of yellow drinking 6 glasses of water a day then you should stick to 7 glasses of water a day. If not then you should stick with 6 glasses of water a day.

But if you find that 7 glasses of water a day is not enough. Then you should try drinking more glasses of water a day and see the results.

What you’re trying to do here is make sure you’re drinking enough water each day. Not too much or too little.
Another important thing you should know…

You can’t just drink any type of water. There are certain types of water that’s full of toxins (such as tap water). The 2 types of water I recommend you drink is distilled water and purified water. Distilled water has no minerals, which means if you drink it, it will leach out any unwanted non-organic minerals from your system.

But since distilled water has no minerals (it’s just dead water), you will need to drink some purified water to oxygenate your system. However, you do need to drink them separately and drink it on an empty stomach for it to be effective.

While water alone will not eliminate your acne it will greatly assist your skin in remaining healthy and that will be one portion of the pie in fighting acne.

Baby Acne - What To Do When Your Baby’s Face Breaks Out

As a new parent, you worry about every little ailment, scratch and bump that your newborn experiences. Seeing your baby’s skin break out in red and white pimples can be a little bit of a scare. After all, your little one shouldn’t have to deal with acne until he or she becomes a teenager, right? Not quite. What your child is experiencing is baby acne, a fairly common condition that affects young babies.

What Causes Baby Acne?
Acne is often caused by a change of hormones, bad nutrition and excessively oily skin. So how did your sweet little baby acquire any one of these causes? Obviously your child hasn’t picked up any bad eating habits yet, and newborns don’t usually suffer from oily skin. Hormones are the culprits.

Right before birth, the mother passes her hormones along to the baby through the placenta. This causes your baby’s skin to break out in acne when he or she is just a few weeks old. Baby acne mostly appears when the child is 4 to 6 weeks old.

How To Treat Baby Acne?
Baby acne is thankfully just a temporary skin condition. To take care of baby’s skin and help clear up the acne, wash the affected area several times a day with warm water and mild baby soap. If the acne appears in baby’s face, gently wipe it after each meal or spit-up. You should never use anything other than mild baby soap on your baby’s delicate skin unless your pediatrician instructs you otherwise. Baby’s skin is much to sensitive for any harsher cleaning solutions or acne remedies.

Once the hormones that were passed on from the mother work their way out of baby’s system, the baby acne will clear up on its own. Until then, keep the area clean to avoid additional bacteria to grow and to keep your baby comfortable.

The little zits do not hurt or bother your baby, after all he or she is too young to feel self-conscious about them and neither should you. Your baby will be just as cute with a few little bumps.
